Yesterday I planned my future

Yesterday I planned my future,
One day in advance
For I had nothing better to do.

My hands despise idleness
And pushes my brain to think,
Encourages my legs to travel,
Citing all sorts of adventures.

I wonder where my plans will lead,
For they never play out
As they are purposed,
But I enjoy the surprises
Each new day brings.

I certainly did not expect
For today to bring me to new places
Far from the comfort of home,
And to browse birds in an aviary.

In a garden wonderland
Of young fruit and busy bees,
I caught the aroma of fresh herbs
And received an array
Of beautiful succulents
From a lovely woman.

Today, I was not prepared to be
Welcomed into a new home
Where all but one person
Were foreign to me.

It was a joy to eat alongside
A different crowd,
And a greater joy to mingle
Over a homemade board game.

And all the more, today
I definitely could not anticipate
Getting lost with a friend
On unfamiliar roads,
And getting lost again and again.

Yesterday I did not see myself
Having an adventure;
I saw just another day,
Pass by as any other.
