A hand reached out to her,
Persuading her that she belonged –
That she would learn
And she would grow.
She took a breath and leapt
Into an unfamiliar world
Filled with creative talents
Far exceeding her own.
It was a strange invitation;
One that called for 6am alarms
And other things she didn’t bargain for,
But it was a new beginning.
