In Between

She wakes up from another slumber
Like the drowned gasping for air,
Yet, she only dreams black,
And does not know
What torments her so.

Her world is still dark
Until the blinds are raised,
But she always lies there
Amidst the glimmers of light
Through the gaps of curtain,
To catch her breath
And mourn behind closed doors,
All the while stuck between
Wanting to be alone
And wanting to be with someone.

Note: a rework of an old poem of mine.

  1. Why am I the only like. That’s a crime, this is such a beautiful piece about being town between isolation (self imposed or forced) and wanting to reach out. It captures it so vividly, it’s so evocative. Keep writing! ❤
