Stone Blue

Through the boyish bravado you espouse in larger crowds and your loud and “intimidating” voice, I remember thinking, what is wrong with this person? You stood at the front of the lecture hall with a serious look – a look in which I would almost consider, stone-faced. Truth be told, I actually felt a bit uncomfortable!

For quite some time, I just thought you were a total weirdo who said hello to me every so often to be polite. You are very polite and friendly, so I’ll give you that. But I also had a thought; that surely the strange bravado wasn’t how you acted all the time. And a conversation with a particular boy, who cooks, confirmed that.

Like an unwavering force, you foster an aura of strength showing that you’re very grounded and quite certain of yourself, but I know you are also curious and love to learn new things. Like a stone blue, your presence is very peaceful and it’s extremely easy to navigate my way through a conversation with you. I also appreciate the spectacularly random things you send me, even though I don’t get it sometimes! Memes are 100% a love language.

But there’s something that doesn’t quite seem blue about you. It happens during the times you call out my name and say hello. You have this big grin on your face that reveals a child-like joy that is impossible to ignore – it’s because the joy that radiates off you seems so… pure. It’s warm and inviting, and it makes me smile too. It’s like you’re always happy to see me! Perhaps, during those times you are closer to a baby blue wall that has been kissed by the sun – still cool and calm like a blue at night, but warm when the sun is up.

The duality of your cool demeanour as well as your warmth is a little difficult to describe, but I hope you get what I mean. It has been a blessing to have gotten to know you, and I hope I’ll get to know you even more.
