It’s a little disenchanting knowing jobs are being taken by our artificially created friends who were, in the first place, designed to make our lives easier. Hearing little whispers of Spotify’s blunder in eradicating their Wrapped Team in favour of AI has left a sour taste in my mouth. From the accusations of inaccurate streaming data to the dissatisfaction with a poorly executed summary of one’s yearly listening habits, I’ve actually found it a little humorous. However, I do agree Spotify has thoroughly disappointed this year.
When you’ve suffered through a terribly anxiety-inducing year, something as mildly inconvenient as this is but a blip in the matrix. I wish Spotify Wrapped could have added to my joys this year, but it’s okay. It’s a real shame that creative roles were taken by something so lifeless all to save money. To evoke that same joy and meet that level of anticipation, it really did need a human touch.
I didn’t listen to as much music this year and instead opted for morning prayers on my commutes, but I’ve left my top 100 songs for you to judge below. Enjoy.
