After the party,
When all has gone quiet,
Do you sit among the mess
And breathe a sigh of relief?
The festivities have calmed,
And you turn off the light
Letting the Christmas tree glow
As you prepare for bed.
It was a space filled with joy,
And laughter, and food, and family,
And as much as you loved that,
It was replaced with a desire to rest.
Even a short two days later,
I am exhausted, yet still full of joy,
In this terribly lethargic space
Between Christmas and the New Year.
What a crazy holiday it has been—
In sickness… and food poisoning!
